ARC is an educational non-profit co-created by Peter Bane (publisher of the Permaculture Activist magazine), Lee Barnes, & others. Our aim is to initiate the creation of regional Permaculture centers throughout the East to support and coordinate the development of Permaculture education and its broader application in the world.

Permaculture is being tested and trialed in many regions of the world - working to reveal a holistic reality which can serve as a seed pattern for future generations. This new culture represents the "graduation" of the human species to maturity and biological legitimacy; exemplified by small rural AND urban communities that meet most human needs within their regions - loosely called ecovillages.

These models of bioregional self-sufficiency arise from a tide of cultural creation that has been in motion for some fifty years. Its basic pieces have already been road-tested over several decades, even centuries in some places. Permaculture is one of several models which addresses the increasing destabilization of civilization.

The challenges are enormous, including global warming / cooling, peak oil and energy decline, deforestation, multiple forms of pollution (genetic, endocrine disruptors, heavy metals, radioactives, acid rain, etc.), desertification, eroding topsoil , dying and rising oceans, species extinction, and diminishing clean water supplies.

The basic behavior mode of the world system is exponential growth of population and capital followed by collapse.

If all the humans on the earth now were able to see the whole picture at the same time and take creative cooperative action, the situation could be handled over the whole earth even now. But, until this occurs, we will be moving foward. We, and you if you'll join  us, can be the people who have the ability to demonstrate to others how to survive and thrive.

Our job is to help you do that.

ARC is working to develop action learning (with Gaia University) and a Pc Diploma Worknet (similar to the Pc Academy in the UK).
